(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On April 23, the Ministry of Planning and Investment organized an online conference with the provinces in the Southeast region regarding special policy mechanisms for the region. The meeting was chaired by Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Tan Duc, at the Dong Nai Convergence Point.

At the conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong stated that the Southeast region plays a crucial and strategically important role in all aspects of the country. It is also a region that converges most of the conditions and advantages for developing industry, services, and leading the industrialization and modernization process. However, the region's growth is showing signs of slowing down, with challenges affecting the development of the country's economic flagship.
Recently, the Politburo and the Government have issued resolutions and action programs to transform the Southeast region into a dynamic and high-growth economic region, the driving force behind the country's growth. In order to address existing issues, leverage potential advantages, and effectively implement the set goals, tasks, and central solutions, it is necessary and meaningful to adjust and supplement special policy measures for the region.
There are five proposed groups of special mechanisms and policies for the Southeast region, including: investment in connecting transportation infrastructure and mobilizing resources; science, technology, innovation; industrial parks and zones; development of high-quality human resources; and adjusting the decentralization policy for construction planning, urban planning, and social housing development.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman Vo Tan Duc agreed with the five proposed mechanisms and special policies for the Southeast region developed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The provincial leadership assessed that these policies are essential for the economic and social development of the province and the region. They contribute to resolving existing issues, effectively implementing provincial and regional planning, and achieving the set tasks outlined by the central government for the region.
Dong Nai province proposed two additional content points. Regarding investment in connecting transportation infrastructure and mobilizing resources, the province suggested studying additional policies that apply the build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract model for upgrading, expanding, and modernizing existing road projects, in accordance with the approved plans for national highways, main roads, and elevated roads. Regarding the industrial park policy, the province recommended supplementing policies to specifically address the conversion of functions and support the relocation of businesses out of industrial parks.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment will synthesize and continue to study and refine the report on special policy mechanisms for the Southeast region based on the feedback from localities, ministries, and sectors, and submit it for consideration and approval by the Government.
