Construction of Phuoc An Bridge connecting Phu My town (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) with Nhon Trach district.

There will be several bridges connecting to Ho Chi Minh City

Nhon Trach district is located in the central position of the growth triangle of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Situated at the southeastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City - the largest urban area in the country, Nhon Trach district holds the position as a gateway connecting internationally and to key economic regions within the Ho Chi Minh City area. However, until now, there has not been any direct road bridge connecting Nhon Trach district and Ho Chi Minh City.

In September 2022, Nhon Trach Bridge, a component project of Section 1A of the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project, officially started construction. According to the schedule, Nhon Trach Bridge will also be completed and put into operation in 2025. When completed and put into operation, Nhon Trach Bridge will be the first bridge to directly connect Nhon Trach district with Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, stated that according to the agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, there will be 3 new bridges invested and constructed to connect the two localities in the planned system of transportation connecting the two localities. Among these, there will be 2 bridges directly connecting Nhon Trach district with Ho Chi Minh City, namely Cat Lai Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge.

Regarding the implementation timeline of the projects, Phu My 2 Bridge is to be invested and constructed after 2030. As for Cat Lai Bridge, the two localities are currently in discussion to agree on the implementation timeline.

Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, has proposed that the relevant authorities of Ho Chi Minh City coordinate to carry out the procedures in order to start the construction of Cat Lai Bridge in 2025.

More infrastructure projects connecting the region are being implemented
In addition to the bridges connecting to Ho Chi Minh City, there are currently several infrastructure projects connecting the region being implemented and under construction in Nhon Trach district.

According to the plan, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway will be completed and put into operation in 2025. This project is expected to provide a significant boost to Nhon Trach district. Not only does it serve as a connection between Nhon Trach district and localities in the Southeast region, but it also connects to the Southwest region.

Alongside that, the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project is also being implemented and will contribute to the development momentum as regional connectivity is strengthened. According to the plan, the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City will be put into operation synchronously in 2026.

In June 2023, the Phuoc An Bridge project connecting Phu My town (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) with Nhon Trach district also officially started construction. When completed, this bridge, with a value of nearly 4.9 trillion VND, will play an important role in the transportation connection of the Southeast region. It allows goods from Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) to move along the inter-port road to Nhon Trach district for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway; Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay without having to travel on National Highway 51.

In Nhon Trach district, in order to seize the development opportunities brought about by the interconnected regional transportation infrastructure projects, the local authorities have implemented numerous transportation infrastructure projects that connect with the regional transportation network.

At the beginning of 2024, the district of Nhon Trach simultaneously commenced construction on three transportation projects: Phase 1 of the 25C road (section 2), the Ton Duc Thang road (25B road), and the extended Le Hong Phong road.

Mr. Nguyen The Phong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Trach district, stated that these are highly important projects for the locality, gradually establishing the local transportation network and connecting it with the regional transportation routes to promote development. "Upon the completion of these projects, they will connect with important roads in the area such as the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, the road leading to Phuoc An Port, and in the future, the road leading to the Long Thanh International Airport. From there, they will meet the transportation needs of goods and people, facilitating the flow of traffic through the industrial zones within the district and neighboring areas, gradually perfecting the transportation infrastructure of Nhon Trach district. This will serve as a driving force for the economic and social development of the locality," Mr. Nguyen The Phong added.
