Turning Dau Giay Town into a class IV urban area by 2025
According to the roadmap set out in the general planning adjustment project, Dau Giay Town will be developed to become a class IV urban area by 2025.
Assessing the urban development potential of Dau Giay town, representative of Vietnam Architecture, Investment and Commercial Joint Stock Company (VARIC), the consulting unit, said that Dau Giay has varous favorable conditions for economic and social development to gradually move from class V to class IV urban in the future. This is due to the town being located in the Southern Key Economic Region, a strategic location. In particular, Dau Giay is located in an area with convenient access to major urban areas of the province such as: Bien Hoa City, Long Khanh City, Trang Bom Town, Long Thanh Town. Dinh Quan Town... so Dau Giay development will be influenced by these urban areas. Another advantage of Dau Giay town is that the land bank for urban development is abundant and convenient for building and developing sub-regional commercial and service areas.
Meanwhile, according to Director of the Department of Construction Ho Van Ha, compared with some urban areas such as Gia Ray, Long Giao, Tan Phu, Dau Giay urban area has the most favorable conditions for development.
With these advantages, in terms of development vision, the adjusted general planning also determines that, in the future, Dau Giay town will be one of the major industrial and infrastructure service centers of Thong Nhat district and Dong Nai province, an important driving force promoting the urbanization process and socio-economic growth of Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City region.
Regarding urban development orientation, the project also divides Dau Giay urban area into 3 divisions including: division 1 - district administrative center; division 2 - education, training and urban development center; division 3 - industrial and urban areas.
Of which, division 1 is determined to be the western gateway, with the main functions are being the administrative center, education and training, housing and urban services such as: commerce, services, green parks...
For division 2, it will be the eastern gateway, offering the following infrastructure: education and training center, multi-purposes complex, trade service and housing.
Meanwhile, with Dau Giay Industrial Park, division 3 is determined to be an industrial center, developed with the main functions of industry, housing, trade, services and social infrastructure.
Exploiting the potential of being a traffic hub.
Thong Nhat District is considered the most important traffic hub not only for Dong Nai province but also for the whole country. With its position as the central urban area of Thong Nhat District, Dau Giay Town “takes after" almost all the advantages of the most important traffic hub of the country.
Currently, Dau Giay town is the "focal point" of a series of traffic routes connecting the country's lifelines such as: North - South railway line, National Highway 1, National Highway 20, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway; Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway. In addition, in the coming time, the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway will also be constructed.
Mr. Mai Van Hien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thong Nhat District, said that currently, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway passed through the locality, and the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway was also plannedt to be built. Moreover, according to the province's traffic planning, there would be 3 new provincial roads passing through the district. Therefore, planning district roads to anticipate and promote advantages from these traffic projects was extremely important. Therefore, the locality had also reviewed and supplemented the planning of district roads to create regional links to promote socio-economic development in the area.
