Currently, many fresh fruit products are the main export products in the province such as bananas, dragon fruit, mangoes, pomelos, etc., which are in the harvest season and exported for the new crop year 2023. With many markets open for Vietnam's fresh fruit products, it is predicted that in the new crop year, the export of fresh fruit products will have a lot of prosperity.
Start up with many advantages
From the beginning of the year until now, due to the impact of the post Covid-19 epidemic and the impact of economic and political instability in the world, the export of a number of fresh agricultural products, agricultural products processing is difficult. However, the province's export turnover of vegetables and fruits in the first 11 months of 2022 still reached USD 136 million, down only 0.05% over the same period.
According to data from the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, currently in the province, there are 7 main types of fruits that are in the main harvest season, including: dragon fruit, citrus, grapefruit, jackfruit, banana, and mango. It is expected that in the month of Lunar New Year 2023, the total harvested output of the above products is 42,000 tons. Expected demand for domestic consumption in the first month of the Lunar New Year 2023 is 14,000 tons of fruit. The remaining supply is quite abundant to supply to foreign markets and export.
The above difficulties are expected to ease in the new crop year. Mr. Saw Lean Joo, General Director of AGRO QL Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City) which has a preliminary processing and processing factory of fresh fruit in Thong Nhat city, said that in the first months of 2022, export activities of enterprises are very difficult. In which, it is very difficult for exporters to find empty containers to pack goods, and the transportation costs are also very high, which has now been resolved. According to Mr. Saw Lean Joo: "Demand for processed fruit products is quite stable, especially fresh fruit products often fluctuate greatly depending on the market time." Specifically, in the last months of the year, especially December and January next year, the demand for fresh fruit products of many countries increases because they cannot produce in winter. Enterprises do not worry about output, it is important for farmers to produce up to export market standards.
Investment in expanding planting areas that meet export standards
Some agricultural exporters predict that starting the fruit and agricultural product export season in the new crop year will have more advantages because transportation costs have been reduced by more than 1 year. half compared to the beginning of the year. The export market is also gradually getting better. In particular, many markets have opened with Vietnamese fresh fruit products.
At the request of partners as well as international practices, imported fruit products must be granted a planting area code. Accordingly, Dong Nai province is focusing on speeding up the issuance of planting area codes and export packing facilities to seize the opportunity to boost exports for fresh fruit.
From the beginning of 2022 up to now, the Agriculture Sector has guided and supported businesses and establishments to complete the profile of the planting area, and the durian packing facility for official export to the Chinese market. Currently, the province has 120 planting area codes and 58 packing facilities for export with an area of more than 24,000 hectares, with 7 types of fruits including: bananas, jackfruit, dragon fruit, mango, rambutan, lemon, durian. . In which, there are 83 growing area codes including banana, jackfruit, mango, dragon fruit, rambutan, durian serving the Chinese market. There are 37 area codes for growing mangoes, seedless lemons and rambutans for export to Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Europe.
However, the area of fruit trees that have been granted planting area codes for export markets is still quite small compared to the total area of fruit trees. Businesses are also very interested in linking and supporting farmers to quickly increase the area planted for export markets.
Ms. Hoang Thi My Ngoc, Director of Hoa Hanh Fruit Import-Export Co., Ltd (Bau Tram Commune, Long Khanh City) shared that the company currently has 3 factories to pack and preliminarily process durian for export. Facing the new requirements of the Chinese market, the enterprise has built a team of technicians to come to the garden to guide farmers in making the planting area code to ensure durian export output in the new crop year.
In 2022, the province has built 7 codes for durian areas with a scale of 533 hectares licensed for official export to the Chinese market.
