Mr. Tran Van Vinh, Vice
President of Dong Nai People’s Committee is making a speech in the
working session. |
|
In the session, MTV Dong Nai irrigation Limited
Company said the company was recently in charge of 51 irrigation works all over
the province, providing a good irrigation service in an area of 25
thousand-hectare rural land, helping to prevent saltwater intrusion in an area
of six hectares per year, and supplying 9.5 million m3 of running water per
year. The efficiency of the irrigation systems amounted to more than 80% of that
as previously designed. Besides, the company also manages and works on over 400
kilometers of canals and channels with the annual average revenue reaching VND
14.5 billion and the income of laborers in 2010 reaching VND 3.6 million per
month.
However, for the time being, the company is
encountering a lot of difficulties due to the decrease of the amount of water
for the irrigation structures in the dry season, and due to the serious flood in
the rainy season. For the majority of irrigation systems are located in far and
away areas, the company finds it hard to attract highly-skilled specialists
meeting the requirements of the field, etc.
As Mr.
Tran Van Vinh, Vice President of Dong Nai People’s Committee said in the working
session, MTV Dong Nai Irrigation Limited Company was the main provincial unit
providing irrigation and drainage service; however, the irrigation works the
company is in charge of just meet the irrigational needs of 25,000 hectares
(making up 10% of the manufacturing land area), which is too low. Therefore, Mr.
Vinh suggested that the company should review and re-evaluate the whole
operation capacity of the irrigation works. Furthermore, the handover of the
irrigation works to the local authorities according to the decision by the
People’s Committee needs to be made a pilot for accurate assessment. The company
should also co-operate more with the localities to implement the irrigation
planning, which helps to provide a better service of irrigation.
