The project for Long Thanh International Airport was approved by the Prime Minister in March 2008. Its total area is about 26,000 hectares, of which 5,000 hectares are for the airport and 21,000 hectares are for the neighboring area. The Airport is located nearby Long Thanh Town, 40 kilometers northeast from HCMC, 70 kilometers northwest from Vung Tau, beside National Highway 51A and HCMC – Dau giay Freeway.
After finished, the airport will have 4 runways with 4,000 meters long and 60 meters wide and modern terminals with the capacity of around 100 million passengers per year. It will be the gateway to Vietnam, welcoming international passengers and receiving commodities worldwide.
