Dong Nai Department of Transpot reported that the development of bus network in industrial zones and tourist sites is an indispensable trend to solve traffic jam, as well as to control and reduce traffic accidents, ensuring sustainable development in urban areas. In reality, the pilot implemtation of the public passenger transport network in Dong Nai province after 3 years gained such remarkable results as: the number of routes has increased to 22 (2009) from 7 routes (2005), and the number of passengers has raised to 44,664 passengers/day (2009) from 17,321 passengers/day. The number of vehicles has gradually increased (both in quality and quantity). Based on these achievements, the Department of Transport continues to make a plan to expand bus network in Dong Nai province until 2020 and the vision after 2020. Accordingly, the planning project will continue to be surveyed and added some new routes in Bien Hoa City, Long Khanh Town, districts, some tourist sites and other key traffic centres.

Vice Chairman Tran Van Vinh asked Department of Transport and the consultant unit to quickly complete the planning draft and submit it to the Provincial People’s Committee by June, 2010, and the consultant unit should consider suitable cost and make a qualified plan.
